Criterion 1
Define the operating outcome
Decide whether you need alert monitoring, hands-on containment, tool administration, compliance evidence, or a fully outsourced security operations function.
Managed security services directory
Managed security service providers help organizations monitor threats, operate security tools, respond to incidents, and maintain security coverage when internal teams cannot staff every function. Use this broad directory as the primary starting point for comparing MSSPs across service scope, technology experience, industry fit, and operating model.
Security teams often have more alerts, tools, and compliance responsibilities than their available staff can manage. The right provider closes a defined operational gap, such as continuous monitoring or incident response, while fitting the buyer's existing stack and escalation process. A useful comparison therefore looks beyond brand recognition to the exact work the provider will own.
The providers below represent the directory's broad MSSP market. Compare their listed services, customer-size focus, industries, supported platforms, response commitments, and claimed profile status before building a focused shortlist.

Criterion 1
Decide whether you need alert monitoring, hands-on containment, tool administration, compliance evidence, or a fully outsourced security operations function.
Criterion 2
Ask which actions the provider performs directly, which require your approval, and which are excluded or billed as separate incident-response work.
Criterion 3
Prioritize teams that routinely operate the SIEM, endpoint, identity, cloud, and network platforms already deployed in your environment.
Criterion 4
Compare coverage hours, severity definitions, notification channels, response targets, containment authority, and access to senior responders.
Criterion 5
Request sample operational and executive reports, then confirm meeting cadence, named ownership, evidence retention, and service-review practices.
A managed security service provider, or MSSP, operates selected security functions for a customer. Common responsibilities include monitoring, SIEM administration, endpoint detection, vulnerability management, incident escalation, and compliance reporting.
Start with the outcomes and systems the provider must own. Then compare relevant experience, response authority, staffing model, integrations, reporting, contract terms, references, and the responsibilities that remain with your team.
Not exactly. MSSP is a broad operating category that can cover many security services. MDR is a more focused detection-and-response service. Some MSSPs include MDR, while some MDR providers specialize mainly in threat detection and containment.
